Christmas "Vacation"

Pre-Christmas
Nixon is 10 months old!
Look at those teeth!

Nixon is so cute in the mornings and after he wakes up from his naps. He gets really excited and overwhelmed and ends up burying his face in the mattress and his covers
The library had a really fun Christmas activity where Mrs. Claus came and visited the kids

Before we left for Canada we opened up some gifts from Aunt Terry. Thanks Aunt Terry!
We love driving long distances (sarcasm). Luckily our kids are very good in the car and this trip was no exception
When we got to Welling both of the kids got sick, but that didn't stop us from having a good time (it just kept us from having any good sleep ;)
It is always nice to get ready for church on the Sunday before Christmas. Nixon looked extra handsome
We also love getting family pictures taken

We did a 1st Christmas photo shoot for Nixon and it was a lot of fun
We even got a cute picture of Lyza
I think they saw a dinosaur?

Lyza didn't really like being in an enclosed space so close to her brother

We were also able to get a few pictures taken behind Kim's grandparents' house

I have been predicting that Nixon would walk before Christmas and while we didn't quite make that goal we are pretty close. He loves to stand and can stand up from a crawl without grabbing onto anything. He has also taken some steps but falls down after the first one. Anytime now he will be walking
Lyza got to open up some birthday gifts
 She loves this doll
Lyza fell in love with puzzles again on this trip
She also had lots of fun playing with her cousins

Christmas eve dinner was lots of fun and really yummy

Lyza had a blast sticking this bow on everyone's heads
The kids loved seeing their grandparents

We had a nice Christ-centered program on Christmas eve and played a fun game together

 Christmas Day
Christmas day was a whole lot of fun. Of course we started off opening our boots (stockings)
One of Lyza's cousins was convinced that the magnifying glass in Lyza's boot must have been an accident, I guess she didn't know that Lyza likes magnifying glasses

 Lyza's first kinder surprise
She loved this little owl that was in her boot. When you squeeze it its eyes pop out
Noxon loved this ball from his boot
He wasn't so sure about the one with lights in it
 Me and my sweetheart
Santa brought Lyza a learning computer (this was actually a bit of a FAIL since it didn't work! We have seen sent it back to "Santa" and it should be repaired in a few days)
Nixon quickly got the hang of opening presents
Santa brought Nixon some different cars and trucks
He likes eating the mega blocks from the cars
My amazing wife found me a gavel so that I can keep some order in the office
Lyza got some magna-tiles and LOVES them
She played with these all the time
Some of us were lucky enough to get pajama pants for Christmas
This little guy had lots of fun picking up all of the paper and plastic that no one else appreciated
 Hugs from grandma

Lyza's wonderful mother made her a new quiet book
She has lots of new activities to play with

Lyza really liked to give presents and watch people open them
Lyza got a Little Mermaid Christmas tree ornament that plays music and I don't think it is possible to describe the HUGE smile that was on her face for at least 10 minutes while she kept playing the songs over and over again

My wife gets cold feet all the time so I have to keep them warm
She helped Nixon open his gifts. This little baby puzzle has been a lot of fun
Nixon got a tool bench that is a lot of fun

Here is a little video of Nixon dancing to his tool bench music
Lyza got an old fashion spinning top
A collection of Robert Munsch stories - great reading here we come
Nixon got a train set that Lyza and I both really love (he will grow into it :)

Hannah gave our family a really thoughtful gift. Part of it was the movie The Littlest Angel. Lyza watched it four times on our drive home. She kept asking for "The Prettiest Angel"
 Christmas dinner was a hit
Post-Christmas
We had lots of fun playing games with family. Settlers of Catan was my trip favorite (even though I was usually angry or frustrated while playing)
We got a four generation picture with Nixon, his dad, his grandpa Bullock, and his great-grandpa Bullock
He did really well with his great grandparents
He even let them hold him
Nixon also liked his uncle Kevin (of course Lyza did too)
On our way home our lane was completely blocked by mountain sheep at one point
Well we had a nice Christmas. It was good to see some of our family and have some time to spend together. Maybe next year we will all feel well and won't be so sleep deprived. That's all for now. Happy New Year and take care.
