I love August Birthdays

A Sunday morning before church. She was on her third viewing of "The Miracles of Jesus" and decided she would rather read
This was a fun Daniel and the Lion's Den game that we played for family home evening
When Lyza plays outside her face gets really dirty because she is constantly touching her face
One day after work I picked up a pizza and met the kids at the beach

We had lots of fun on Kim's birthday last week. We went for a hike on Tubbs Hill
We hiked down to the beach and played in the water for a while
The kids loved playing on this rocky area

View of the resort marina from Tubbs
We went out for birthday lunch after. Chef Lyza got to make her own pizza
The birthday girl got some really amazing pizza
 And a delicious spumoni sundae
Lyza really liked these giant "flowers" and asked for a picture with them
Lyza helped me make cinnamon buns for Kim for her birthday breakfast
Nixon looked extra handsome for his mom's birthday
The kids had fun helping her open presents

 Yummy birthday cheese cake
The kids weren't too sure about the sparkler
As a preview for our next post, here is a video of Lyza singing about seeing her big family on vacation
Take care

Lovin' Summer

Our little girl has discovered the joy of Jenga

We spend most summer nights at the park together

Kim has bought and canned about 60 lbs of peaches this summer. We grilled some this week and it was really yummy

We have repurposed the peach boxes into rocket ships for the kids

At the start of summer Nixon was really hesitant around water like his little swimming pool, the river, and the lake. Now he is fearless and has such a good time

Kim hosted a double baby shower this week so I got to have a date night with the kids. We went out for ice cream and then to the park. Lots of fun!
The kids love playing with Nixon's train set
We had a ward camp out this weekend. We weren't brave enough to camp Friday night so we showed up Saturday morning for breakfast and activities
There was frisbee

Nixon really wanted to jump off of this dock...he got really close once

Lyza was so excited when I told her that she could play with a few of the worms that people were using for fishing
 Nixon practicing his canoeing skills
I got to take out one of the elders' hand crafted kayaks

The kids have been loving our new swing set
Especially Nixon
Take care

More summer fun

This picture doesn't really have a caption to go with it. He is just too cute not to share!
Lyza has enjoyed pulling Nixon around in this little boat

We love living so close to the water

They resurfaced the road in front of our house and the kids have enjoyed watching the big trucks through the window

Lyza happy as a clam during one of her play dates
We had a ward picnic and the kids loved running through the sprinklers
We bought a used play structure from Craigslist and set it up last week
Lyza had lots of fun eating a snack in the tree house
Kim found a good deal on a baby swing
We plan on repainting and building on to the play structure to add more things
Yesterday I added a ramp/tire ladder

We went to an art festival last Saturday and Lyza got to let out some of her creativity
There was music to listen to and all sorts of people selling things
The giant sand castle is our favorite
We had a crazy dance party this week

This is Nixon's favorite dance move right now
One of Lyza's crazy sleeping positions
These two love to play on the piano together

This little boy's hair was getting pretty shaggy
 Nice summer hair cut
 Fun with play dough

During one of our evening walks we went down to the water and walked around a bit

Lyza picked some of the flowers at the park and brought them to us. We have seen them from a distance all summer but never noticed how cool they are
His new favorite breakfast is Cheerios with milk
My boss gave me this cookie to take home to Lyza. She said that it looked like the kind of cookie Lyza would appreciate. I think she was right.
That's all for now. Take care
