Henry got to go on a field trip to a local nursery/garden center and learn about plants
He also got to plant a flower bulb
Kim volunteered to go with them
Lyza had her final concert of the year
Her band improved a lot this year

It was a lot of fun at Lyza's concert
The elementary school had its Panther Prowl, where the kids run around the field and keep track of how many laps they can get
I love catching Henry reading in the mornings
On a Friday with no school Kim took the boys to play at the park and they found some ducks to watch
Then they got lunch at Costco
Kim planted the garden
We found this acorn a squirrel had planted in our mulch so Lyza transplanted it to a garden bed to see if it would continue to grow
We had our first fire in the backyard for the season
And s'mores :)
If I take too long to get out of church on Sunday the family sends me a selfie of them waiting patiently
I installed a door bell camera
The boys helped me make sure it worked
We played some kickball last Sunday to practice for a game we planned with friends on Memorial Day
Lyza goes surprisingly high on the swings for someone who does not like heights
Nixon and I went fishing on Memorial Day morning
I caught a nice rainbow
Then we went out for breakfast and Nixon ordered a bacon cheeseburger
That afternoon we took the kids our for frozen yogurt
That evening we had our kickball game with friends
Mason got to go on a field trip to see a play based on Tarzan
For the boys' primary activity this week they had a bonfire and learned how to retire an American flag
Lyza has a queen ant in her closet that has laid eggs
The 4th graders had their Rendezvous field day at school where they did a whole bunch of activities from the pioneer period. Nixon's favorite was the horse back riding
There were lots of different events and demonstrations
Including basket weaving
Wagon ride
Two person saws
Gold panning
Using hand tools (like this hand plane)
I guess this is what you do when your drill runs out of charge?
Corn hole
He even dipped candles
Friday night Kim and Lyza went to the temple together
Then they had donuts and a movie party
Meanwhile I was camping with the boys for a fathers and sons campout. One of the young men tagged along with us because his dad was out of town for work. The boys really took to him.
We went to Camp Peine next to the Pend Oreille River.
I didn't get a lot of pictures because the kids were busy playing with friends and I was busy doing everything else. Here we are on Saturday morning after a short sleep
Meanwhile Kim was out hiking and living her best life
After breakfast we got a big game of kickball going
Henry had lots of hot chocolate
We had a good time together
Our kids are counting down the few days remaining of school and eagerly awaiting summer vacation.
