Moose, Eagles, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Decorations

The kids had the whole week off for Thanksgiving. They each got to have friends over to play. Lyza and her friend Jane made blueberry scones for us and they were delicious!

On Thanksgiving morning we had three moose in our front yard. The two babies were eating our "moose bush" (I don't know what it actually is but the moose love it)

The mother moose was right in our front yard eating the tree in front of Lyza's window

I am not exaggerating when I say we were inches away from the moose

After that I decided to go for a walk/look for the moose. I found them a block West of us and got some more pictures of them

It was a good day for moose watching. For lunch we went to a Thanksgiving meal at the church with several other families. The food was delicious and we didn't have to cook all day for a single meal.

Later we played some Settlers of Catan together

The next days the boys found their baby books and had lots of fun going through them

We set up Christmas decorations that day. Later we went out into the rain to watch the parade downtown

After the parade there was a fireworks show

On Saturday we decorated the Christmas tree

After that Nixon and I went and did some eagle watching. The eagles were not very active but we still got to see some in action. Shorty after we got to our spot this one dove down and caught a fish

This one was posing on a tree for us

I love seeing them in flight

This one got a fish

These eagle watching cruise ships were going up and down the lake

Nixon enjoyed the eagles and climbing all over the place

It was overcast

Here is a juvenile bald eagle that just caught a fish

Our usual spot didn't have a whole lot of action so we tried a few others. Right after we left the spot pictured here we saw this eagle performing right there (we were way off in the distance) If we would have stayed put we would have been as close as those people were.

Lyza got to go to a local used bookstore and buy a bunch of books for a discounted Small Business Saturday rate. She was very happy.

Take care
