First Week in Welling: Swimming, Baseball, Writing-on-Stone

Two days after we got home from our camping trip Kim loaded up the van with the kids and went north. They stopped in Sparwood to stretch their legs and play at the big truck

First look at Nixon's forehead and it was looking good with no signs of infection

Lyza decided to lose a tooth

The kids were happy to find kittens to play with at Grandma and Grandpa Bullock's house

Very friendly

Welling sunset

I think the kittens would do anything to be left alone

It was a long day and the boys had no problem falling asleep

Grandma got some help making breakfast the next morning

Shelling peas

Leave it to Mason...

Time for some P.E.

Followed by some soft ball

Kim's mama bear protector nature came out while they were playing

Healing up well

Nixon showing off his awesome balance

The main reason I didn't go with Kim and the kids was because I had to prepare for a trial the next week. That meant long hours getting ready for trial. It also meant finding a project to do so I could take my mind off trial prep occasionally. The passenger side door on the truck had some rust on the bottom that I have been wanting to repair. So I pulled out the grinder and got to work (I regret not taking a before picture).

Meanwhile Kim was catching up with an old friend in Magrath

And taking kids to the swimming pool

Nixon showing off on the diving board

The water slides were so much fun

Until the water slides closed and Henry's world ended

Mason found other things to do

Here is some of the swimming fun

Next it was time to fly kites

While they were flying kits I was filling in the repair area with Bondo (which was horrible because it would harden way too fast)

You can also see I repaired part of the back passenger door that had some chips and rust

The last step of the day was primer, which needed to dry over night

The next morning I got to do the paint

And clear coat

And I am very pleased with the final product

In Welling Grandma Bullock was crafting with the kids

Henry checked out the sandbox

That evening I needed to get out of the house so I hiked Tubbs Hill and found these osprey in their nest (I especially enjoy the blue rope they used to make the nest that is hanging down)

They were quite noisy

Here is a tiny planet shot from the drone over Tubbs Hill

The sunset over Lake Coeur d'Alene was beautiful

View of downtown, the resort, the marina, and the Spokane River

Drone selfie

Another tiny planet

The sunset was really nice that night

The light was really orange

On the way down I saw this osprey swooping around and perched on a different tree

The next day Kim took the kids to Writing-on-Stone provincial park with grandma and grandpa

Picnic time

I am pretty envious of the climbing they got to do

It looks so beautiful

I think Grandpa fell in a hole

Lyza exploring and enjoying nature

After all of the climbing they played in the water and at the beach

Who let Lyza bring a book?

Those boys are in heaven

They saw a rattle snake that was happy to shake his rattle for them

How is that my youngest?

I think they had a good time

Things are much more fun when you do them with Grandma and Grandpa

The next morning (Saturday) I got up early and started the day with a bike ride before more trial prep

Kim had the same idea and went for a bike ride that morning (Only one of us had to ride through plague-like swarms of grasshoppers though. Can you guess who it was?)

Henry photographing Grandma

Mini golf

Henry was exhausted and passed out on the drive home

Well, that was the first week. I don't think there is any need to decide who had the more fun week between Kim and I ;)

Take care
