Picture Day (Soccer)

***UPDATE: Google changed its blogging platform and I notice that last week's blog did not properly show videos in mobile format. I have fixed that now so if you checked the blog last week and noticed there were missing videos, those are now available***

I figured out how to make a time lapse of star trails

Henry thinks he is a big kid

On our walk last Sunday Henry got behing this fence and thought it was so funny

Trying to learn at home (hopefully this week they will change to 5 days a week in school like the CDA school district just approved)

I love this lighting and I love this little monkey

Mason started pre-school this week

He is doing it with his best friend (who he also occasionally refers to as "my girl," which is so adorable)

They made some cool name bracelets

And worked on writing their names

Henry had to show them how it is done

I like this costume he came up with

On Friday night Nixon had a friend over for a boys movie night

Lyza and I went to the church to practice volleyball (not pictured because we were having too much fun) and Kim went through metamorphosis

On Kim's Saturday morning run there was lots of fog/mist over the river (you can kind of see it here)

Saturday morning was really nice because instead of the kids waking up and stuffing their faces with food, Lyza read to Mason for a long time

Mason had another soccer practice yesterday and his form was on point

He is really cute out there in uniform

He also had team pictures, which we forgot about (although we knew Nixon had them later so luckily we had the portrait lens packed with us

Be careful if you ask him to look at the camera and smile

Here he is with his team (at least one person is missing)

Pictures took forever (because one of the two cameras wasn't working) so Mason's game ended out being only a few minutes (lame)
He still enjoyed himself. He was constantly giving me the thumbs up

Here he is chasing the pack

Nixon also had pictures and we were prepared (matching clothes that fit and combed hair)
He looks like a model!

Here is his team (I think they were all actually there)

Nixon's hands were in his pocket more than I liked

He is eying that ball the other team is about to kick in

Michael Jordan was well known for sticking out his tongue when he was concentrating (photo source)

Nixon had a little bit of the same going on

After he ate a whole granola bar during his rest he went back on the field and had a cramp he had to deal with. At that same time he got the ball and had a good chance to score but missed by just a little bit. He played well (especially defensively) and had a good game.

Nixon also got to channel his inner Karate Kid and break a board with his foot

Henry was really silly last night before bed

We hope you have a great week!

Smoky Week and Soccer

Halloween is fast approaching and Mason was drawn in by this werewolf at the store

Kim repurposed this old ugly filing cabinet

And now it houses her piano music

Nixon had a good old fashioned arm wrestle with his friend this week (he has two older brother and gives Nixon all kinds of bad ideas ;)

Kim got some apple butter and salsa canned

This is what schooling from home looks like around here

Henry and Nixon dancing together on the hoverboard

The kids' friends found a toad and shared it with them

The little boys get to play in the dirt just because they are little boys

Which turns into this...

Kim also got some pears canned (she is amazing)

Last Saturday is when the smoke rolled in. We have been cooped up in the house all week because the air quality has been so bad. Friday night we had some rain and Saturday the air was clear and we got to go outside again.
Mason had another practice and game yesterday. He certainly has the form down with his big kicks

He was a little more comfortable this week than last

Nixon got to have his first game with his team and did really well. In fact, he was the first one to score (on only the second possession)

You can see how much fun he has when he is playing

He can also get pretty serious

And he also does handstands in the middle of the game

Here he is catching his breath

And getting some help with his shoe laces from his coach

He just took the ball from this kid in the red

He has also been doing well passing instead of trying to do it all himself

Later in the afternoon Lyza and I got to practice some volleyball skills

Henry wanted to help with the lawn

Take care
