An action packed first few weeks of August

We are getting closer to catching up (by the time this is posted we will only be one week behind on the blog)
No one takes my picture when I play piano with my shirt off :(

America's Got Talent?
 Someone loves blueberries
 Hanging out in the fort
We all went to the skate/bike park together so the kids could ride their bikes around

 Nixon has no fear

 A couple more years Henry...
Lyza overcame her fear of going straight down this ramp with a little pep talk from mom (and a bribe from dad)

Mason also incorporated a little parkour
Lyza's new helmet is super cute (just like her)
Nixon has so much energy that he even ran the course
Maybe the best part of the morning for Mason
Look at that intensity (she was about to crash into Nixon)
I took the big kids to Ace Hardware that afternoon for lunch and a concert
Then some family time at that beach

 Morning drive before church
 Matching bow ties
What a good looking bunch (this was Kim's last ward council before being released)

That evening Henry figured out how to get the lid off his container of Cheerios and he was in heaven

Slow down Henry!
We are so happy that Lyza loves reading
Henry teaching Nixon a thing or two
Sometimes your bum gets sandy when you play in the sand box
Kim has gone huckleberry picking a couple of times
 She made delicious huckleberry muffins
Here is a little video of Henry laughing before bed. Your're welcome...
This morning Kim spoiled the kids with huge pancakes

Lyza video chatting with Grandma Bullock
We originally planned on taking the kids to Welling/Raymond for swimming lessons. When that didn't work out we get them in lessons in Spokane Valley. We have been really happy with their lessons and how much the instructors taught and pushed the kids rather than just letting them sing and play
Here are a few clips from the last day of lessons
The kids got a yummy lunch after their lessons
 This boy loves french fries
Lyza got to go on a date with her mom. They stated with breakfast (yes, that is a snake pancake)

Then they went to the library together where she got to play on the computer
And she checked out A LOT of new books
Inspired by Lyza's awesome date, Kim and I went to the temple together for a date

We really enjoyed spending that time together
I don't always go in the crawl space. But when I do, I wear a shower cap to keep spiders out of my hair.
That evening we made a fort and let the kids watch a movie in the fort
The kids were really excited that their cousins from Stony Plain were going to be visiting so they decorated the driveway for them
Sarah and Richard and their kids visited that evening and the kids had so much fun playing together. We all has so much fun that we didn't take a single picture! Don't worry, we took some the day we spent together
Henry is so close to walking and has been loving this walker toy
He also likes to dance when he walks
Mason in his element
Lyza learned to make macaroni and cheese
I see culinary school in her future
Nixon learned how to pump on the swing in like 10 seconds
Kim is the best mom...and she makes sandbox volcanoes for the kids

Finally our cousins came back!
Sarah was kind enough to take Henry for a joy ride
We had an action packed day. We started off in downtown Coeur d'Alene
Holding hands and walking toward Tubbs Hill

 Posing with Mudgie and Millie

 On the trail
 We had a picnic after
 A seagull took Lyza's sandwich ;)
Waiting in line patiently for icecream
 Yum!

 On the boardwalk
I the afternoon we went down to our beach and played in the water. The kayaks were fun for the kids
We also had a big kayak for the grown ups

No one had any fun ;)

The kids even got to game together
We spent another evening together a couple days later (again, no pictures because there was too much fun). We really enjoyed having the Wolseys visit. Come again any time!
Nixon is so sweet and love to give back scratches
Why is playing in the sink more fun than washing dishes?
 What?! Silly boy!
 Chalk painting the driveway

The kids have been tracking their reading over the summer and the library gives the kids credit (in the form of fake money) for their reading, which can be redeemed for various things. Here is Lyza's haul
Mason was just happy to have this donut hole with sprinkles
Our hydrangeas are in full bloom and making our table look (and smell) so beautiful
Check another item of the summer bucket list...we had a camp out in the back yard!
On a side note, when Henry has to crawl on a rough surface he does the cutest bear crawl to protect his knees
 SO...Cute!
Sleeping in the tent is pretty glamorous!
Lyza didn't make it past midnight before she went back in the house to sleep in her bed. The boys slept there the whole night.
Mason was so well rested he helped make breakfast the next morning
Henry was loving blueberries for breakfast
Nixon and I got to go on a date together to Triple Play
 We rode on the go-karts

 And the bumper boats
And played lots of games

And we finished it off with ice cream. Thanks for the wonderful date Nixon!
The next day (Sunday) we went to the temple in the afternoon as a family
We read a book about temples
We also took advantage of the beautiful day day and temple grounds and took some pictures
We got a few keepers!

After the temple we went to Manito Park in Spokane and took a few more pictures and explored the koi pond

Then we had a picnic dinner at the park
Henry was so fashionable

 One lucky mamma!
Henry looked so cute standing against this bench

Then the kids got to cross another activity off the summer bucket list: climbing a tree

Nixon had lots of skills
That's all for now. Congratulations if you made it this far ;)
Take care
