The Rest of Los Cabos, Settling Back Down into Normal Life, and Nixon is 8!

***THIS IS A LONG POST***

Let me take you back to Los Cabos...

After our snorkel trip we spent some time at the hotel. This is the view we got as we left our room each time

The resort was beautiful and had beautiful flowers everywhere

We took a walk down to the ocean and saw the huge crashing waves

The water wasn't safe to swim in because of the current/undertow

But it was still beautiful to walk along the beach

We then decided to get some drinks and sit by one of the many pools

I could only take so much sitting around so I got up and flew the drone around when the sun was low and the lighting was beautiful

We got dinner at one of the restaurants at the resort and while it was good, it was the slowest meal ever

But these churros were worth the wait. They were DELICIOUS!

The next morning I got up before the sun and got some shots of the sunrise with the drone

Here is a video of the sunrise in San Jose del Cabo

That morning we went out to a place outside of San Jose del Cabo called Flora's Farm

It is a farm to table concept where most of what they serve is grown there

It was really beautiful (look at those banana trees)

It was a really beautiful and peaceful place

There was a pond with fish and a turle

And the food was AMAZING!

There were also some fun places for pictures

After seeing Lover's beach from the boat the day before we needed to go back and experience it on the ground. We went into Cabo San Lucas and rode a water taxi out to Lover's Beach to explore.

On the way out we saw the pirate ship

And lots of Pelicans

Here is Lover's Beach. As you walk through the rocks you go from the Sea of Cortez side (Lover's Beach) to the Pacific side, which is Divorce Beach

Here we are on Lover's Beach together

This is standing on Divorce Beach looking toward Lover's Beach

The waves at Divorce Beach are really strong and you are not supposed to swim there

Have I mentioned how much I love her?

We swam at Lover's Beach and the waves were very strong and fun

Of course I had to get some drone shots...You can see the arch here

Here is the Tiny Planet of the Arch/Land's End

Here is one looking toward Lover's Beach

A panorama looking at Lover's Beach

Here is the arch from the Pacific side

And a panorama from the Pacific side

Our trip to Lover's Beach was a little rushed but it was certainly a highlight of our trip

Here is the video from that trip

After Lover's Beach we went into Cabo San Lucas and explored a bit. The big cacti everywhere were cool

We went to a place called the Sandbar and got rooftop massages next to the ocean. The best part was that they were only $35 for a 60 minute massage

After the massages we went to a restaurant called Sunset Monalisa for a sunset dinner

It overlooked Land's End and was very beautiful

How could you complain about this view?

As the sun began to set these guys blew conch shells

This was our group for dinner

We all did a seven course dinner

We had some fancy drinks

This focaccia bread was the best I have ever tasted (and it had truffle butter)

Course #1 was BLUEFIN TUNA  with avocado, cilantro, yuzu kosho, and oak aged ponzu. That's right, Kim ate raw tuna!

Course #2 was FOIE GRAS TERRINE with praline, tangerine, brioche, and butternut squash. I liked everything EXCEPT the foie gras, it was terrible.

Course #3 was TRUFFLE PASTA with Black truffle, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Plugrá butter.

Course #4 was TOTOABA (a local fish) with seaweed, spinach, herbs, shellfish, and dry miso. This one was really good.

Course #5 was POACHED LOBSTER with lemongrass, bergamot, Beurre Blanc, and celery root.

Course #6 was AUSTRALIAN WAGYU BEEF TENDERLOIN, 10oz - Aged 90 days, BMS 8-9. By this point one of the people in our party was completely stuffed and just had this course boxed up. His loss though because the tenderloin was DELICIOUS

I guess by this time we needed a palate cleanser so we got fruit popsicles

The final course, Course #7 was GIANDUJA AND HAZELNUT with crumble, Manjari, and Frangelico. I don't know what that means but it was hazelnut chocolate and pretty good.

I guess that wasn't enough so they then brought out some pastries and flan.

It was a fun night trying some new food

Here is a little video of that experience

The next morning was the partner meeting (the reason for the retreat) so there is nothing to share about that

After the meeting Kim and I got some food and mocktails poolside for lunch

The marlin taco was to die for

I spent a few minutes in the hot tub

We enjoyed some down time together

After that it was back to Cabo San Lucas for a dinner with everyone. First we did some shopping and found a pirate along the way.

We got some fancy drinks

Lobster tacos for an appetizer

I don't think we pictured our entrees but they were great of course

Dessert was really good. I got a Mexican chocolate lava cake

Kim got a pineapple pie

There was live music while we ate

There was also entertainment when they prepared Mexican coffee. Check it out

After dinner we explored Cabo a little more

This upside down car was pretty cool

Here I am with my friend Wes

It was fun video chatting with Henry

Kim was up early the next morning running

Her run took her past the San Jose del Cabo marina

And she got a good picture of this giant cross that I couldn't find a history of

We did breakfast at the resort that morning

It was a breakfast buffet with way too many options

After that we set off for a zip line adventure

It was out in a desert canyon

This was our group

My only complaint with this activity is that I couldn't get any video :( Next time I will just bring some adhesive GoPro mounts to sacrifice on the helmets. But we did get to purchase photos of our group.

There were some really long runs and we got going REALLY fast

We also got to rappel down a rock wall

After that we had more pool time

There was a wedding that night at the resort and we saw them setting up fireworks down at the beach

We had dinner at the resort that night at a sushi bar (thanks for indulging me Kim)

And we got a fireworks show with our dinner

This was the first time I saw heart-shaped fireworks

They were really good fireworks

Here is a video of them

On our last day we went into San Jose del Cabo to get breakfast at a place called Pez Gallo that was recommended to us by one of the shareholders

This was the best shake I have had in my entire life!

Our breakfast was SO GOOD

After that we had a little time to check out San Jose and do some shopping. This is the church that is right next to the square

They had really cool souvenirs like these nativities

Kim got a hat

I am lucky I didn't have to wait as long for Kim as this guy had to wait for his wife

Just kidding, she is an angel

San Jose was really pretty

Here is a short video from San Jose del Cabo

After that we packed up and took one last walk down the beach

What a great trip. We had so much fun and even got a few minutes to relax.

So what happened at home while we were gone? We aren't too sure but if the Cat in the Hat has taught me anything, it is better to not ask. Everything was fine when we got home (after missing a connecting flight and multiple delays) so that is good enough for us).

I know that Nixon had an incredible basketball game and scored 18 points.

I know Nixon and Grandpa Bullock did some hiking together

I am also sure the kids got to make good memories with the grandparents. We really appreciate them watching the kids for us.

So what has happened since we have been back? Valentine's day. Here is a cute picture of Mason at school on Valentine's day

Kim wasn't busy enough coming home from being out of the country for 6 days so she also organized a Valentine's exchange at the church

And she helped Mason and Henry make these crafts

We have had some warm weather and the swings have seen some love after months of neglect

We brought a few little gifts home for the kids

This was NOT Henry's initial reaction when he saw the snake we brought him

Mason at the park with his bestie

Kim is wonderful (full stop). She also made us a delicious anniversary dinner on our anniversary despite it being a busy night with a basketball practice

Kim's bestie had a birthday so Kim brought birthday stuff to the fitness class her friend was teaching

It isn't warm enough to ride bikes but he can't be told

The kids were happy to get Valentine's in the mail from their cousins

Check out the excitement Henry had opening his Valentine

Henry has been a little under the weather and extra tired

Girls pickleball for Kim's friend's birthday

Look at that score sheet. 11 baskets for Nixon!

More points individually than the other team!

Last Saturday all of us except Henry did some night skiing

Mason was awesome and improved A LOT

The end is the best part

Mason got to the point where he could go down the next hill all by himself

I don't think Lyza wanted to be there but I am glad she came with us

Mason lost his first tooth

Nixon is a puzzle machine

Henry insisted on having an H with his quesadilla

I love when Henry gets into train mode

What is he doing?

We went to Flying Squirrel a couple days before Nixon's birthday. Henry has so much fun running around there.

They all do actually

Nixon's friend Gus came and they has so much fun together

Henry giving Lyza a run for her money

Nixon made this maze out of Lego

Nixon turned 8 this week!

He asked for acai bowls for breakfast

He had lots of fun opening presents

Check out this reaction

He finally got a slingshot

And roller blades

Mason is doing really well with reading

Nixon wanted banana splits with cake for his birthday cake

Happy 8th Birthday Nixon

Check out that banana split

I guess we had some extra whipped cream

Kim's charcuterie board game is strong

Mason and Henry made these monsters while Nixon and I were skiing yesterday

Henry wanted to tape it on Nixon's door to scare him

Nixon and I had a wonderful time skiing yesterday. It was beautiful and warm and not busy.

We even tried a new route because it was so light out

Here is a video of Nixon skiing. I wish the camera had been positioned up a little more but I think it is fun to watch him go through the forrest.

While we were skiing those at home got smoothies and popcorn for dinner

After dinner I took Nixon to Wendy's for a cheeseburger and he was in heaven

There you go, all caught up.

Take care
