March 24, 3013

This will be a short post today, not a lot has happened at our house this week. Daniel and Lyza have both been sick. The other morning, Lyza was not feeling like herself so I let her watch some tv. In case you can't tell by the big grin on her face she really liked sesame street!
I finished the dress that I have been sewing for Lyza. It should fit her for this summer. Here is the front....
 ....and the back.
This balloon from Grandma has been kicking around the house for over a month now! We have blown it back up several times and Lyza just can't get enough of it! Here she is giving it hugs the other night.
Having fun, playing with the Easter decorations.

The other night while Lyza was sitting in her highchair she out of the blue started singing Taylor Swift's song "Trouble" I managed to get some of it on camera. You know a song is sung too much on the radio when your 15 month starts singing it!

Welling, New York, and Moscow

We are all home and happy to be together!

Kim and Lyza couldn't bear the thought of being all alone in Moscow while I was in New York so they packed up the car and drove through winter's worst.

Of course Lyza needed some time to stop and shop during the long drive
Lyza and Kim got lots of Love while they were in Welling

Meanwhile, I was spending a whole lot of time on airplanes traveling to New York City!
I stayed at the Sheraton in Manhattan and arrived very late Thursday evening. Because of the change of time zone we weren't tired when we got there, so we walked around a little bit and this is what it is like in Manhattan at around 1 a.m.
Two of my classmates and I competed in the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition hosted by St. Johns University School of Law in Queens. There were 62 teams in the competition this year and, although our team did well. we did not advance past the preliminary round. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot and are ready to do even better next year.
Here we are taking the subway for the first time.
My favorite part of the trip was seeing Wicked on Broadway
We also visited the 9/11 Memorial site
This is a comparison picture of the skyline with and without the twin towers
Where the towers used to stand they built two huge fountains with the names of victims all around
We also spent some time on Wall Street. Here is a safe in the Federal Building where Washington gave his inaugural speech
The iconic bull statue on Wall Street. It has some interesting history.
New York Stock Exchange.

There were lots of good places to eat. Here is me at Hard Rock and then an amazing corned beef sandwich from a deli near our hotel.
There were lots of cool buildings to see

 The temple
The temple had a really nice elevator

Central Park
Julliard School of Performing Arts. Maybe if Lyza keeps up with her dancing she will go here.

 Sunset by the Hudson river

 Times Square at night
This area (Times Square) is always really busy, even at night.
Apartments along the Hudson
 Aircraft carrier?

The biggest post office I have ever seen
 Philippines Consulate

 Rockefeller Square in real life
 In Lego
 The United Nations building

We took the free ferry out to Staten Island so we could see the Statue of Liberty

View of Manhattan from the Ferry
This is the new building they are building where the World Trade Center was
This is the banquet after our competition. It was really nice and really fancy.

New York was a lot of fun (probably not as fun as going to Welling) but I really missed my girls.
Here is Lyza chilling on the sofa
Lyza has the most beautiful eyes. Here is a picture I took to try and capture their beauty (she has her Mom's eyes). The picture doesn't do them justice!
Lyza loves to get into her Mom's purse/diaper bag and play with her wallet. So, Kim bought Lyza her very own wallet from the dollar store. She loves it.
Her is Lyza sporting pig tails before church this morning. They didn't make it past her afternoon nap. She either ate them or threw them where she throws all of her socks.
Here is a video of Lyza playing with one of her new favorite toys
And here is a video of Lyza playing with a balloon and showing off her extensive knowledge of animal noises
We hope every one is doing well. We are getting really excited for summer.
Take care.
