Who is that giant sitting next to Mason?
Kim and the kids made some new slime. Lyza chose pink for this batch
They love playing with this stuff
I LOVE the new born sleepy smiles. He is so dreamy!
He is pretty fun at bath time
What is even more fun at bath time is Lyza's conversation
So cute
He had enough of bath time by the end of it
His hair gets really poofy after we wash it
The Bishop's family invited us for dinner this last week and after we played in the back yard
These two were pretty cute in the hammock
We had a quail family stop by and visit and they even ran into our garage and spent part of the afternoon there
Nice helmet cowboy!
Kim got these dinosaur water guns on our last trip up to Canada. She gave them to the kids this week, along with some water balloons. The kids thought the balloons were dinosaur eggs that needed to be protected, not broken or thrown. Silly
But they did figure out how to use the guns properly
This guy gets lots of attention from his big brother
So alert, and even more handsome
All tucked in and ready for bed for the night. Complete with sock hands
For the final library activity of the summer there was a huge obstacle course. Lyza enjoyed all of the different activities
We had a family beach day this week and while Nixon hung out on the shore Lyza made some real progress trying to swim
I think this is my favorite picture of all time!
I am not sure what she was doing
Snuggles on the beach, pretty lucky
Huge boat on the river
She loves climbing on these rocks
Swaddled up like a mummy
This weekend I added another zone to our sprinkler system for the garden boxes I plan on building this fall. Friday night the kids helped me clear all of the rocks away from the valve box
They got so dirty they needed emergency baths
Saturday morning I was up early digging out the valve box, a spot for a new valve box, and a trench to the garden area
I was interrupted by the amazing breakfast Kim and Lyza prepared for us
I had lots of help from Lyza and Nixon
After adding the new valve and the sprinkler line it was time to cover it all back up like nothing ever happened
The finished product, doesn't look much different, but it will be nice to water the garden on a programmable timer ;-)
Perfect reading chair
Saturday afternoon we helped clean up after a funeral. The Primary President was there (on the right) and she immediately invited Lyza to help clear the garbage on the tables. Lyza was so excited to be given a job, and did great. That was a great lesson to me. Too often I fail to challenge Lyza with jobs and assignments because I focus too much on the things she can't do. Instead I should be challenging her and helping her learn that she can do hard things.
After our little service project we had a picnic and played at the City Park downtown
This park (Forth Sherman) has lots of areas to climb and hide and is really big. The kids had a blast exploring everything and running and jumping off overthing
We always love the view of the lake
What a little model
This is my handsome Nixon after nursery today. Kim caught me editing this scrape off of Nixon's nose in another picture (directly below) because she wants us to look back and remember the bump and bruises of our active little boy. What do you think? Simple editing to make pictures look their best, or no editing so it is a more accurate representation?
Me and my "perfect" little boy
And my special little girl. She was the spotlight in primary today so she got this bracelet
Our hooligans after church
I love when the kids will just dance and have fun
Lyza talks all the time about growing up and how she wants to be a grown up. It kind of makes us sad because she is growing up so fast (although it doesn't always feel that way). One thing that gives us comfort is that she seems to be getting sweeter and sweeter as she grows up. Hopefully that doesn't stop and we end up with a sour little girl
That's all for now. Take care
