We've got some catching up to do
What a cute sight to see the kids stretching with Kim after her early morning run
Lyza chose her own outfit this day
The kids have been really good at giving Kim dandelion bouquets this spring
The kids have been obsessed with catching birds. This is their first attempt at a bird trap. A butterfly net with worms in it
Lyza needed to go to the dentist to have two teeth pulled to make room for her adult teeth. We did a little photo shoot the day before to capture her cute smile. We also got some other gems
My favorite
We made a family trip to the hardware store to get some supplies to finish off our patio project
Lyza was really good at the dentist (the nitrous also helped)
She was excited that the dentist made her a balloon flower
Two teeth gone, now her shark tooth should have room to move to the right place
The same afternoon Nixon needed to go to the dentist for a minor surface cavity. He was not so cooperative. After some screaming and biting they gave up and did a sealant until he could come back and be cooperative
Silly boy
Last Saturday we filled our garden boxes with dirt
These two put their little chairs side-by-side and looked so cute together
I think this was Mason's first time in the swing and he LOVED it
Kim and the kids planted the garden (hopefully we get some food to grow)
That evening we went to a ward talent show. Lyza liked sitting with her fried Remi
I liked sitting with Spider Man
Lyza asked if she could perform at the talent show. Her she is
The kids also enjoyed dancing to the band at the end
The next day at church Mason shared his snacks with another kid
Kim set a goal to read 100 books with the kids in one week. They did it! They had lots of fun, although it can be hard reading with Mason around.
The best part of it was that the kids spent much more time looking at books on their own.
Mason may have also picked up the reading bug
We have been teaching Nixon to say in his bedroom in the morning until at least 7 o'clock
He got a sticker chart and after doing it long enough he got a Spider Man back pack
Mason has turned into a walking machine. He loves to walk all over the place (assisted by cool toys)
He can move pretty fast when he wants to. He still has some mishaps every now and then
Kim watched Remi and his little brother Kitt for a whole day last week (which meant she had a 10 month old, a 2 year old, a 3 year old, a 4 year old, and a 5 year old). She had her hands full.
Hungry hippos was one of the many activities the kids enjoyed.
TV time in the tipi
That evening we went to the annual event at the library. Nixon and I spent some time in the back of a police car
Mason in the back of the dump truck. Can you say heavy load?
Saturday was my target day to get the patio all finished. We had to bring in some sand
Our tulips opened up and look beautiful
Tamping the base layer
Raking out the sand
Tamping the sand
Mason tried a red pepper for the first time and loved it
He turned 10 months yesterday so he got a little photo shoot
Showing off his teeth
Gouging the fox's eye
Mauling the fox
Is there something on my head?
Nixon really wanted to help with the patio. For at least an hour he used this little brush to clean this area where we were cleaning off the paving stone (most of the paving stone was removed in the rain so it was covered with dirt and mud which had to be cleaned off before it could be put back)
Kim just happened to get this video of Nixon banging his head on the BBQ. Poor boy
Nixon also liked to hand me stones so that I could lay them down
Nixon got so dirty he needed a bath. The water is yellow, but that is because it has a fun dye in it. Who doesn't like bathing in yellow water ;)
Here is the mostly finished project.
I still need to clean it, fill the cracks with sand, remove the retaining wall near the house, and tie in the edges to the lawn. But the hardest part is done and I am relieved.
Hope you have a great week. Take care
