It is hard enough getting to church on time when church starts at 8:30 am. Add to that a big freaky spider in the front flower bed that Kim found and we had an action packed Sunday morning a couple weeks ago
After church we loaded up the van and headed off to do some camping with friends
We were packed in there tight
Nothing like some homemade ice cream when it is over 100 degrees out
And Dutch oven peach cobbler
We were exhausted that night and all fell asleep really easily
Lyza was up and reading before the others
We got to use the new tent. Our site lost a lot of trees in the most recent wind storm and had very little shade during the day
Henry and I were up and out of the tent first
We took a walk together and watched the sun rise
Nixon liked having his bike there
There we lots of squirrels nearby
The kids liked watching and following them near the tent
They were really noisy
Lyza all ready for a good day
Henry and Mason and I played Noah's Arkle
Breakfast was yummy
To beat the heat we spent the day at the beach and had a blast
Henry had an afternoon nap
The kids had lots of projects in the sand
A little groggy after his nap
The beach was lots of fun
That evening we made some hot dogs
I am not sure why kids like playing in the dust so much
Henry also enjoyed having a bike there
The sunset on this mountain was really pretty
Look at those 4-year-old muscles
It was super hot while we were there
Some more Noah's Arkle
The next morning was Mason's birthday so we decorated the campsite the best we could
He slept in pretty late and was a little confused when he woke up
But there was an interesting green caterpillar for him to examine
Mason turned 5!
We had donuts and yogurt parfaits for breakfast
We packed up and headed home after breakfast. It was 109 degrees outside
For dinner that night we had shells and pizza, the meal Mason requested
He had some help reading birthday cards
Nixon spent his own money to buy Mason gum
He got some fun gifts including this learning tablet (he now likes to quiz us on things like the days of the week ;)
And he also got a brand new bike
We had some Crumbl cookies and ice cream that night instead of a birthday cake (the cake was the next day)
He likes these Pop Its
The next day Mason got to have a birthday party with lots of friends. They did a water party in the backyard with a pool, water guns, water balloons, and a sprinkler
Mason also had some fun dance moves for us
They had some snacks
And then played some more
Then we had the dinosaur birthday cake
And then it was time for the piñata
The kids had lots of fun with the piñata
We LOVE Mason! He is such a character. He has lots of questions, even more energy, and lots of love. He isn't always smiling, but when he does, it can easily melt our hearts! Happy Birthday Mason!
Kinetic sand castles
Kim took the three big kids to Silverwood in the afternoon/evening while I watched Henry. Lyza was brave and went on these big water slides for the first time
Ice cream
Kim took the boys on Timber Terror, a large roller coaster made of wood
They were so brave
Bumper cars
Nixon helped Mason put together this wooden truck he got for his birthday
Kim got some giant balloons and filled them up with water and challenged the boys to break them
They tried everything. Stomping, throwing, rolling, slapping, punching, belly flops...
Those didn't work
Bear hugs (didn't work)
They had lots of fun though (and eventually they did break)
On July 3rd our ward had a breakfast we attended
Mason and Henry also tried slacklining
It feels good to be five
We have lots more to catch up on. Keep an eye out!
Fun that you guys could go camping, too bad it was so hot. Glad that Mason had a great birthday!!
