Father's Day, Hiking, Trek, and Mason's 6th Birthday

For Father's Day Kim made me a delicious trifle

Mason stole the show with his creative gift bag and contents

A new brush for the bbq

I had lots of help opening gifts

Kim kept with tradition and gave me an awesome card

The card was the kids reenacting scenes from my "Bad Dad" videos

Here is our reactions to me opening the card

I got to grill some ribeye steaks

And had a delicious dinner

We had some friends over after dinner and Mason was excited to hold their baby (he didn't drop her either)

The kids have been enjoying the summer book buses where there is a bus at a new school every day and you can get free books and snacks.

Henry has been an awesome helper with vacuuming the van

To get Kim ready for Trek we had a hike as a family

The kids always like the cave

This is the first view from a cabin on the top of the ridge

You can see the cabin here

And here

Pretty flower on the trail

These two loved finding bugs

Why do flowers always end up in her hair?

The sunbeams were beautiful

Here is the final view of the lake before the trail heads back down

The panoramic shot from that point with the drone

And a tiny planet for good measure

The next morning Kim was off to Trek

She got some kisses and love from the kids before she left though

I took the kids for school lunch that afternoon with some friends

Here is Kim watching everyone else do the hard work

I like this picture

One evening I took the kids to see the Reptile Man. We weren't the only ones who had that idea (there were way too many people)

He had his African tortoise

And some other reptiles

The alligator is always a hit

Back to Trek. This is who Kim served with in stake YWs before the stake split. Now they are each the stake YW president of their respective stakes.

Here is Kim with one of her besties

Saturday morning they reached "Zion"

They were greeted by grass, trees, shade, and cooler weather

While they were at Zion we were feasting on waffles with whipped cream and strawberries

Zion looked pretty nice though

I took the kids to a familiar place to hike but the water was much higher than we had ever seen at this particular spot so I was a little on edge having the four kids there by myself, while also trying to get some drone footage ;)

My tiny planet from near the water

We have never seen so much water at this point

Another shot from higher above

The kids were really good

We made sure to have some breaks with snacks

Henry thought he was so funny on this bridge

We have also never seen water at this point of the hike before so the kids liked exploring near this little stream

I think they were tired of photos by this point

The next week Nixon started a basketball camp so the afternoon before he did some drills to get ready

The kids went swimming at an outdoor pool and had a blast

Mason turned 6!

He asked for acai bowls for breakfast

He even learned how to count to 6 on his fingers ;)

He got a cool pirate card from his Aunt Terry

He asked for corn dogs for his birthday so we used the grill to make them so we didn't stink up the house

We had a nice dinner outside

Mason enjoyed opening some presents

He wanted donuts instead of cake (because he chose cake for his party with friends)

Happy Birthday Mason!

Mason got right to work playing with his new Lego

Mason wanted a piñata for his birthday party and Kim had lots of help filling it with candy

Mason also wanted to decorate his own cake with Lego candy

Mason wanted his party to be just like the year before with water activities outside

He got a slip and slide

Henry had lots of fun with the water fight

This kid was a sniper

Mason loved the water

Henry was not very impressed with the water balloons (he really wanted a yellow one)

He got his yellow balloon, wound up, threw it...and it bounced off the kid and Henry had a melt down

Time for some snacks

The kids had fun spraying each other (and me)

Then it was time to open some presents

We had a big group of kids

Then it was time for this masterpiece of a cake

The piñata was crazy as usual. No one was hurt miraculously

The kids swarmed like ants at a picnic

And then ate a lot of candy

That evening Mason had lots of fun with his new toys. This bow and arrow set has been lots of fun.

We had a really strange little storm Saturday night, which resulted in a really cool sunset/rainbows

Take care
