Happy 3rd Birthday Nixon!

At dinner one day Lyza made some comment about the island that we live on and I knew it was time for a little geography lesson. The next family home evening we talked about the creation of the earth and had a little geography lesson. It was fun to show her where we live, where he grandparents live, and where her auntie Hannah is serving a mission

Mason had lots of fun playing with this globe
Mason really likes eating solids. Bananas are a  favorite.
He ate fresh apples until he fell asleep
Nixon was SO excited to get this super hero birthday card from his Aunt Terry
Nixon playing doctor...of course he is performing a foot amputation
Nixon can be really fun doing puzzles
The night before Nixon's birthday we set up a few decorations

He was super excited to see balloons hung up, especially the Spider-Man balloons

Before breakfast Kim did a birthday interview with him. It was so adorable.
Here is some of the interview
Nixon also got to open up one present

I think that face says it all!
His new Spider-Man didn't leave his side all day

Nixon is lucky to have such an amazing mom who will take on the challenge of making a Spider-Man cake for a boy who never really likes cake (he prefers the ice cream)
He LOVED his cake
New Spider-Man shirt for his birthday
Yummy icing
We asked Nixon what he wanted to do for his birthday and he has said unequivocally that he wanted to go to the bouncy house. The ironic thing is that when we first got there he didn't want to go on any of the equipment because it was too loud (with all of the air blowers). Once we got him over the noise he had a blast

There was even a little area for Mason to play on
Lyza was fearless right from the beginning
She was the first to go on the biggest slide
Nixon started using the second biggest slide right away
And he eventually worked his way up to the biggest slide
They had a lot of fun at the bouncy house. We went at lunch time and Nixon was exhausted from all of the fun. That made his reasoning and problem solving skills a little weak at times
Nixon got to choose all of his meals for his birthday. All he wanted was cheerios and pancakes. So he got cheerios for breakfast, dinosaur chicken nuggets for lunch, and we did pancakes for dinner.
After dinner we opened some presents and it was so fun to see his smiles and excitement
He got a Spider-Man flashlight (he LOVES flashlights)

He got a Spider-Man tie (are you sensing a theme yet?)
Nixon also got a Spider-Man scooter (that required assembly of course)

Nixon and Lyza knew what to do with it

What a happy boy!
Happy Birthday Nixon!

What a great bunch I have been blessed with!
Surprise! The inside of the cake is blue. Nixon actually liked eating this cake and had several more pieces in the following days
Google hooked us up with a nice little memory video of baby Nixon
We had such a fun day for Nixon's birthday. The best part was seeing him so excited about everything and having lots of fun. Sometimes it is hard to share the spotlight with siblings, but for that day he was the star and we all had a lot of fun. We LOVE YOU Nixon!
A few days later Kim found this super awesome dinosaur helmet on clearance at Wal Mart and we had to get it for our little dinosaur lovers
I took the kids out for a walk the other day and they enjoyed climbing on this huge mountain of snow
Have I ever mentioned that Kim is an awesome mother? Who else would act so silly just to entertain her kids?
I mentioned that Mason has been eating solid foods, which means that he gets to try lots of different foods. We found out that he really loves blueberries
Take care
