Two Birthdays: Welcome HENRY MATTHEW KEYES!

I love the smiles this simple activity brings to their faces
Mason pulled the stool out of the pantry and made himself this reading chair
Someone has to eat the batter out of the bowl
We don't keep chairs in our dining room any more. They are either in the family room...
or the living room. Thanks Mason
The house across the street got re-shingled. The kids were entertained for a while
Kim made a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake for her birthday. Yum!
She caught grasshoppers at the park.
We all went to Red Robin's for Kim's birthday (actually the day before)

The kids helped Kim with her ice cream
The kids loved getting baloons
Then we went for a little walk
 And to the park
One of Kim's ministering sisters brought her a cupcake on her birthday and the kids decided they would help her with it
On Kim's birthday we went to a BBQ at a friend's house. After we came home and had Kim's birthday cake.

Kim and the kids made a pinata as one of the last items on their bucket list
I took the kids on a bike ride to the forest park and Kim drove and met us there
 Cool helmet
Mason slowed down enough to let us get a couple cute pictures

He loves climbing up this thing but I always make sure he has a spotter

Nixon helping his mom shuck corn
 Lyza really likes this game
I finally made Nixon a robot costume (he has been asking for one for a while)
Mason and I at church last week

Kim didn't get much sleep Monday night/Tuesday morning because she was having consistent strong contractions. That meant we went into the hospital. We got there just before 4 am and at 4:56 am Henry Matthew Keyes was born. He weighed 7 lbs and 2 oz and was 21 inches long.
This is one of the first pictures ever taken of our sweet Henry
He is absolutely adorable and if you don't like baby pictures you should probably avoid this blog for the next few months ;)
Here is his first smile (partial)
 Sizing him up...
He has wonderful hair and dark brown eyes
He looks a lot like Lyza did
We are absolutely in love with him
He is a lot smaller than some of the pictures make him look

I felt so relieved at this point (and I didn't have to do any of the hard work)
 Happy dreams
Henry has been very sleepy
 This is one happy mamma

 First diaper change
They got lots of bonding time together (I think they will get lots more too)
Welcome to the world Henry! Sorry it is so loud and bright
He has a pretty serious look sometimes
That afternoon while Kim and Henry were sleeping I went home to get the kids lunch and put Mason to sleep for his nap. My very first though was "Wow, Mason is huge!" The kids had chair cushions around them and were playing like ninja turtles, even though they don't even know who the ninja turtles are
After a little nap at home we had a babysitter come over until Kim's mom got there. Then I was off to the hospital to get more Henry!

Meeting Grandma for the first time
He is so cute! Look at all of that hair
I can't say enough to convey what a rock star Kim is. She was doing amazing that day for having just given birth
 Little faux hawk
I love his wrinkly forehead in this picture
The kids were SO excited to meet Henry

They even sang to him!
I was a little surprised to see how excited Nixon was (which is silly because he is an extremely sweet and caring boy). I guess it was just neat to see someone with so much energy and intensity channel that toward loving his new baby brother

 Baby feet are so cute
 Cuddles with Grandma
Lyza was also really excited to meet her new brother
Mason was happy I got him some apple juice
The kids all got turns holding Henry

Mason climbed all over the bed

 Big yawn
Our first family picture. Thanks Grandma
Lots of hair and neck rolls
 Such a serious look
Henry's first picture with his parents
Getting him in the car seat (this car seat has taken all four kids home from the hospital). Fortunately, we have a newer car seat to use for him.
He looks soooo small in the car seat.
Because the last kid I saw in that car seat was Mason before he graduated to a bigger car seat, this is how I envisioned Henry looking in the car seat...
So excited to take him home
The kids have enjoyed having grandma around
I forgot how much newborns sleep
 Burping Henry
Henry is so well behaved. He even folded his arms for family prayer!
I love this getup Lyza made for her lion while we were at the hospital

It looks like I am strangling him here. I wasn't. Just burping him.
We gave Henry his first bath at home. He had the newborn vocals every once in a while
All relaxed after his bath
 Just had his hair styled
I remember the other boys wearing this onesie
I took the kids on a date mini golfing and they had way more fun than I was expecting. On the way home Lyza even told me that "golfing is the best sport ever." I didn't want to break it to her that golf is not actually a sport ;)
She had surprisingly good form for her first time
Nixon was first to get a hole in one
 Nice ride
Lyza also got a hole in one
 Riding an alligator?
This hole we played by hitting with the handles of our clubs
Meanwhile this guy was at home being adorable
She is really in love with him

 So dreamy
 More Uno with Grandma
Please ignore the smile on Kim's face. She must have just taken some drugs. She doesn't really like cuddling this baby ;)
On Thursday night I got to go to Lyza's first grade orientation at the school. Her classroom is super hero themed!

Mason also really loves his baby brother. Sometimes a little too much, so we have to keep a close eye on him
He looks exhausted with his arms stretched out while sleeping
 "Magnum"
Spinning him to sleep
He likes his new swing so far
These two always look good together
We are so happy Henry is here with us! Lots more pictures to come...
Take care
