A Happy Thanksgiving and It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

We had parent-teacher conferences with Lyza and Nixon's teachers. Both had nothing but great things to say about our kids. We got to see the family portrait that Lyza painted. I am especially proud that she painted me in my favorite Angry Birds shirt ;)
We pulled all of the Christmas decorations out from the crawl space so we could put them up after Thanksgiving. The boys enjoyed playing in the wreath box
We packed up last Monday for a Thanksgiving trip to Welling
During a stop in Fort Macleod the kids were all fascinated at the cell phone display
The drive wasn't too bad except for about an hour that looked like this
Once we got to Welling the kids enjoyed playing with new toys

We gave Grandma and Grandpa their Christmas gifts

We woke up the next morning to a taste of real Canadian winter
The kids made some crafts with Grandma

Kim and I made a silly video while they were crafting
The kids played games with Grandma
And even did a scavenger hunt
Henry got to try on his snow suit (but we weren't mean enough to send him outside in it. The wind was crazy).
We had a movie night together watching Fly Away Home
 This is an impressive creation
 More crafts with Grandma
 Cute Henry
 Cute Nixon
 Selfie with Nixon
 Look at those cute turkeys
The wind died down a little so we decided to try and play in the snow

Mason was a trooper and helped me shovel the driveway
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner together
We played some games after dinner
Lyza was one happy girl at dessert time: A cookie, pie, and an ice cream cone!
After dinner Lyza got to open her birthday gift early. Do you think she liked it?

Henry was lots of fun that night before bed
The next morning Grandma was back at it (she just can't get enough games, crafts, and puzzles)
Kim and I took Lyza and Nixon to visit with their Great-Grandma and then the five of us went to visit Great-Grandpa in the hospital
The kids braved the cold again that day and played out in the snow with the neighbors

The neighbors' dad had his snowmobile out and was pulling the kids around
 It started off pretty tame
You can see Nixon was enjoying it and eventually that joy turned into fear mixed with freezing cold and snow in the face

He came off smiling and with some ice on his face
Doesn't Henry look so cute in this mouse mask?
Nixon getting some love from his Grandparents

We played Pictionary together and had lots of fun
Lyza asked Grandma if she could look at some of her pictures of when she was younger. They had so much fun together. Lyza definitely has an interest in family history and is a good example for us
All good things come to an end and we had to leave Saturday morning. The sun peeking through on the distant mountains was really beautiful
The mountains and fresh snow look really nice together. Add a train and now you have a post card!
We saw some big horn sheep and Kim even slowed down enough for me to get a decent picture
These frozen waterfalls along the road were really pretty
We got home in good time and got everything unpacked
After church today Nixon came out with this outfit and couldn't stop laughing
We put the tree up last night and did a little decorating this afternoon
We are excited for the Christmas season!
Take care!

  1. Looks like it was a great visit to Kim's parents over Thanksgiving. Lyza's family portrait is adorable!
