Camping at Farragut State Park

Kim having fun coloring with a couple of her boys
Those are big huckleberry pancakes
Look at that teamwork making a big tower
Then they enlisted me to help
It isn't very often that we see more than one hummingbird at the feeder at the same time
Lyza and Nixon did a day camp each day this last week. It was nature themed
Do you have something to say Henry?
Each of those jars has a bee in it. The kids did this without telling us. Surprise!
Henry helping out with laundry
Isn't he cute?
Our sunflowers are getting big

Kim took the kids huckleberry picking this week

Yummy!
Thursday evening war really rough for Mason. He started bleeding and had to go back to the hospital for surgery. (It is now Sunday evening and he is doing really well!)
We have had a camping trip planned for 9 months...Kim, Mason, and Henry didn't get to go because Mason needed to stay home and heal.
The two big kids and I headed off to Farragut State Park
This was out cabin
We spent some time at the beach

There were two huge willow trees near a friend's cabin with really good climbing branches
Nixon and Lyza had a blast climbing

The kids loved their s'mores of course (can you see the marshmallow on Nixon's cheek?)
There were lots of stars to see
Lyza and Nixon slept really well. I didn't.
I got up at 5 am to explore and was greeted by some deer

There was a nice path that followed the lake (Lake Pend Oreille, the largest lake in Idaho and fifth deepest lake in the nation)

I thought this bench sandwiched between the trees' growth was pretty cool
The views of the lake were beautiful

Farragut State Park used to be a naval training station (read more in the image below)
This is the remnants of an old anti-aircraft station along the lake
It was amazing to see growth, like this tree, through the concrete
The early morning views were really beautiful

On the way back to the cabin I saw some more deer
I also saw a bunny under another cabin
Then we saw the same bunny (most likely) in another spot shortly after that

The bunny was awesome
An hour or so after I got back to the cabin from my early morning hike, Nixon and Lyza got up. I took them and their friend Riley on a little hike
It was cute seeing Lyza read the signs to her friend
Nixon was fascinated with this fallen tree and its roots

This part of the hike was much steeper than I was planning on

This tall grass made for some nice photos

Nixon is a climber
We got back and had some breakfast
Nixon found this broken brick made in Canada
Nixon and I went for a quick hike back to the anti-aircraft gun site
Meanwhile, Mason and Henry were enjoying a slide near home
Saturday wasn't as warm as we hoped so we didn't go swimming again. We did check out the other beach with really nice sand though. We will have to come back again to play at that beach
It is a big peninsula with shallow protected water on the left side and the lake on the other side
This was our group. It was missing three of my favorite people though...
And some silly faces
And the kids
We hope you have a good week!

  1. Glad Mason is better now. Poor little guy had to deal with so much.
