Pirate Practice

Kim made this dinosaur nightgown for Lyza's 6th birthday (3 and a half years ago)

Lyza still wears it ALL THE TIME
She has worn holes through the sleeves so this week the sleeve got cut off and repurposed as clothing for her animals

Monday was Memorial Day so we started the day off with a family hike

Henry has a lot of energy and ran most of the hike

The kids loved inspecting ant hills

This is one of my favorite sites when we are hiking

There were pretty small flowers

We could see Hayden Lake

Henry eventually ran out of steam and needed to be carried

Mason was a fairly happy hiker

Look how big that root ball is

Potty time?

The kids needed some sucrose motivation throughout

The butterfly was a highlight

Later that afternoon we went to the beach with some friends and then did a picnic dinner at our house after and a bonfire

Henry fell asleep reading

This is a fun game Mason is playing

A couple of weeks ago the kids had the Panther Prowl at school, which is where each grade runs around the field for an hour and the kids try to run as many laps as they can. Turns out Nixon got second place in his grade so he got a medal. Way to go Nixon!

The kids got to go to the splash park one day and Henry was so excited

I think Mason is trying to reenact a scene from Titanic?

We have had some warm weather so the pool has come out

These boys had a blast

The kids found this critter in the backyard (a cicada) and they literally loved it to death

Preschool the next day revolved around the pool

And a delicious lunch

Nixon and Mason bonding in the pool

Mason got to go to the library and get his reward for all the reading he has done

Breakfast of champions, look how big that pancake is!

He was knocking on the door while I was working

We have strawberries growing

And raspberries

And flowers

The kids had a field day on Friday, which means lots of fun games outside

If you ever need someone to quickly transport an egg on the end of a spoon, Nixon is your man

Lyza took a different approach to that activity. When asked why she was moving so slow for a race, she replied "slow and steady wins the race" :)

Maybe the parachute is more her style

She had a great time though

The little boys got to play on the zipline during the field day

Mason is practicing being an elf on the shelf

He was impressed with the churro

We cleaned the church Saturday morning and got donuts afterward

Henry ate his like a cob of corn

I took Lyza, Nixon, and Mason to a gem show after and there was someone there with a parrot and let the kids hold it

I love seeing Nixon reading to his little brothers

Have a great week and take care
