Spring Break in Welling and Final Day of Skiing

We decided to brave a trip up to Welling for spring break so that meant packing up our suitcases ;)

We got there late Friday evening. Saturday morning we went to the church to play in the gym and Lyza practiced her shot

The kids got to dye Easter eggs

Then they did an egg hunt

One tired boy and a silly big brother

We woke up to a lot of fresh snow on Sunday morning

Puzzles with Grandma

Playing in the snow

Henry got to read with Grandma

Against her will, Lyza tried on Kim's grad dress

I got the first dance

Then she tried on Kim's wedding dress

She took it very seriously

Kim didn't want to be outdone...and it fits!

Nixon got the first dance

Mason got to do some crafting with Grandma

And of course we played some card games

We also went swimming (not pictured) and Kim and I had lunch with some friends (not pictured). Grandpa Bullock was also there and played all the games with us, even if the pictures say otherwise

On the way home we stopped in Cranbrook so Henry could spend his birthday money from Grandma and Grandpa Keyes. He found this awesome RC car and was excited to see it in action.

Well, several hours later his wish came true

We decided to try another day of skiing during spring break and it started out great with the perfect temperature

The Idaho Face (a steep black diamond that normally has large moguls) was actually partially groomed so Mason gave it a shot. Between being groomed and the snow being a little sticky/slow he did quite well.

I will choose to remember that Mason was happy the entire time ;)

Up in Eagle Peak there was lots of fresh snow

Henry and Kim on Eldorado

Henry also tried the Idaho Face for the first time and did great!

We left shortly after lunch when a storm came in and it wasn't very fun to ski in. That was probably our last day of skiing for the season. It has been a good season considering the late start. We went about 15 times over a short season.

Kim and I went out to eat at Gathered in Post Falls

She got a loaded baked potato with brisket, nacho cheese, sour cream, micro greens...

I got some delicious salmon tacos smothered in fries

The next day we had an Easter brunch with our ward and an Easter egg hunt afterward for the kids. Henry did quite well.

Mason and Nixon ended out competing with a larger group of kids but of course held their own

I am not sure the ROI was worth it for this egg

The golden eggs got them special prizes

Our neighbor Mick needed to leave town to celebrate his mother's 102nd birthday so he asked Kim if she would keep an eye on his wife since she had a stroke a couple of years ago and has suffered some cognitive decline. That meant being in and out of their house on Saturday and Sunday, at time with the kids. Here she is with Nixon, who is almost as tall as her.

The kids really enjoyed playing with their dog, Rusty

The Easter Bunny came on Easter morning

We had a wonderful Easter service, including Lyza and Nixon singing in a couple musical numbers

It was a beautiful day so we decided to head outside. Nixon got to fly the drone a little bit.

And the kids got to play at the park

They also got to explore in the forest, at least when I wasn't making them hold still for a drone shot family photo (Henry was not impressed)

The wildflowers were so pretty

Henry needed some help walking home

We had a delicious dinner

And the kids organized several egg hunts in the backyard

The kids woke up on April 1st with some different facial features (eyebrows for Mason)

Same for Henry (who didn't appreciate it)

And a moustache for Nixon (Lyza was spared since she has to leave early for school)

I guess he eventually found his smile

Dinner that evening was a Mystery Cafe where the menu you order from has silly names and you end out getting your food in silly combinations. For example, Nixon's appetizer ended out being Jello (with a straw) and corn

Lyza ordered much more wisely: meatballs and sherbet for an appetizer

Nixon couldn't get the Jello through the straw

Some Caesar salad for Mason

He couldn't wait

Kim's appetizer

Henry was happy for the sherbet but not so much for the French bread

We love doing dinner that way

Mason didn't want to be outdone by Henry and his new car so Mason used some of his money to buy himself a new car

It is pretty cool

Henry and Miss Emily making some oatmeal

That's it for now. Take care
