Recovering from a Fun Overload

The only way to recover from a busy reunion is to stay busy, and that is what we have done
The kids loved jumping on the trampoline with water balloons left over from the reunion
We tried out our new bike carrier and took the bikes to CDA. We rode along the river to the City park and beach area
 This was our view
We played at Fort Sherman playground for a while. The kids like this park because there are lots of pathways and little places to walk through or hide in

Mason had fun sliding with his mom
If anyone ever wondered if Mason was actually our child they would just need to watch him eat macaroni and cheese. Just like the other kids, he loves it (but maybe all kids are the same?)
I had a tough day at work the day after everyone left our house. I worked the morning, then went boating on the lake for the afternoon

While I was out boating Kim and the kids were at the beach. Doesn't Lyza look so cool in her goggles?
I did some tubing on the lake which was a bad idea, which I realized the next morning. It was also really uncomfortable because there were knots in the rope that kept sending a bunch of spray right into my face and eyes so I had to keep my eyes closed a bunch.
It was a pretty day to be on the lake

Meanwhile Mason was chasing the ducks

The time after the big kids go to bead and before Mason goes to bead can be really fun. Mason gets more attention and he usually acts pretty silly.
Telling Lyza that she can lick the whipped cream off the beaters before she was even had breakfast is like seeing her on Christmas morning
On Saturday morning we hiked Tubb's HIll. Nixon thought he could wear the grownup backpack. He wanted it off right away
Cool roots of a fallen tree
 Giddie-up
Lyza kept saying "this is pretty steep, right?"
We love the views of the lake

We hiked down to our favorite pebbly beach
Nixon usually likes the water the least of our kids but he was loving it this day
Lyza was having a blast "preparing for swimming lessons," which means she plugs her nose, holds her breath, and jumps in the water for a few seconds. She has gotten a lot more fearless.

This little boy loved exploring and putting everything in his mouth
He liked playing on this big wet rock until he slipped and fell face first into the water
 I love this one
This was the constant expression on Nixon's face while we were playing at the beach
We are always amazed at how clear the water is at this spot
 Me and my little dude
Mason looks so cure in his hat. He actually left it on pretty well
 My beautiful wife and I
These kids liked to climb the big rocks
When we got back to the park after our hike there was a big Idaho National Guard event with lots of fun activities and and free food
The kids got to play in this giant obstacle course
They also loved playing in these huge inflatable balls
Nixon thought it was the best

We also got to be really American and play with guns. The .50 caliber was pretty cool

That vehicle was pretty awesome. I offered to trade for it with our van. The officers there said it was tempting, but they didn't have authority to make that trade. Maybe next time.
Nixon is way too big for this backpack
 Love these two!
Our garden has been doing well and we made creamed vegetables for the first time this year (and the first time ever with our own garden vegetables)
 Mason LOVED the peas
When you are this cool you stand on the swing
Well, this was the three (3) days after the reunion ;)
I will eventually get this blog caught up
Take care

Bullock Family Reunion

So I think we have fully recovered from our Bullock family reunion. It was busy and a lot of fun. I am planning on making a video of everything that we did, but thought that I would share some of the highlights here first.
There was a little bit of reading with Grandpa before the big party started
Uncle Kevin taught Nixon a new trick
The kids had fun getting reacquainted with Hailey and meeting Mary
There was some trampoline fun
Kevin and Sydney surprised us all with matching reunion t-shirts (they were a life saver at Silverwood)
We got a little bit of time to sit around and visit the first night
All the cousins had some time to sit around and play together
 And entertain each other

 Mary is pretty cute!

We had brunch together on Sunday before church

A triple recipe of pancakes was a little too much, but will probably be just right next time
Some of the kids got special pancakes

 Lyza liked holding Mary

After church we had a quick dinner and marched off to get pictures taken
Aren't these two the cutest?
The Keyes boys representing. I love Nixon's expression...
I can't wait to see the photographer's photos, but with subjects like him, it shouldn't be too hard to get some amazing pictures

Grandpa LOVES grass in his ear ;)

This is a cool picture, minus my silly face

After all of that standing around and smiling it was time to get rid of some energy
 Nice duck face Lyza
 Peek-a-boo
Monday morning we made lunches so we could spend the day in Coeur d'Alene
 We went to McEuen park
Of course Lyza couldn't get enough sun
 We played at the park

 Played some Frisbee

 Of course some ladder ball

Played at the splash park

 Silly boy!

Then we walked to Dockside for some dessert

There were lots of yummy things to look at
But we came for Gooeys and that is what we got
This was the new "Gooey Monster" gooey, with all kinds of cookie inspired ice cream and toppings
 Worms

The fish at the resort are always fun for the kids to look at

The next day was our Silverwood day. The matching t-shirts came in handy so we could stay together better
 Mapping out our adventures
This log ride was a lot of fun

 Mason even liked it
This was a fun ride, you will have to check out the movie I make of the reunion to watch the video
We haven't been to an amusement park together for a long time
 What a cool group ;)
Kim was a little worried about the roller coaster
It was a fun ride. You can learn more about it here.
This little guy was fearless on the rides. He was a lot of fun
Lyza and Aubrey

Kim and Nixon loving the train ride/roller coaster
After some lunch we went to the outdoor water park. No one took any pictures, I wonder why?
After the water park we took a real train ride that had a live action story as part of the ride. It was pretty fun but the kids were also exhausted from a long day

The drive home was pretty quiet
 Wednesday was our beach day
We had fun on the kayaks

I don't think that single kayak is meant for three
We did some tube rides on the boat

Nixon and I on the tube (with Sydney)
Lyza on the tube with Grandpa and Abigail

 Kim and Sydney
Just a nice peaceful ride
Kim decided to "jump off" the tube and take a swim ;)
We had a yummy lunch at the beach
There was also some water fight  action
We even saw a real-life cowboy
That evening we did Minute To Win It games in the back yard

Aunt Joanne got a makeover courtesy of the kids
Of course Kim won the puzzle game ;)
The kids played on the swings
There was a hilarious donut eating game (the reunion movie will have some fun video clips)
Grandpa got lots of love from his grand kids
Grandpa spoiled us with dutch oven dinner
I am not sure what is happening here. This would make the perfect picture for a "caption this picture" type contest
After dinner we had to finish off the donuts
 And play some more
The next morning there was a little more time for visiting
 Breakfast
 And good-byes
We had a lot of fun
Take care
