Still A Little Too Cold for Swimming

I got an area cleaned up in the garage to store our road bikes

Here is a lovely sunset Kim captured

Thanks for mopping boys

These boys looked pretty silly running around with cushions on their heads

For family home evening we did some role playing and the kids liked this silly character I played

Kim and the kids flew a kite this week

He sure is proud of this one

The sign of a good smoothie

Nixon loves hopping around on the big boulders down at the park

He held Henry on the walk home

I think this is the first driveway art of the season

This moon looked cool framed with the trees

On Saturday morning I took my bike out for my first real ride. I rode to Riverstone Park (CDA) and back. It was lots of fun and I really enjoyed the warm weather and beautiful scenery

Yesterday we all went to the river park for a birthday party and then played at the beach. Henry had a blast throwing rocks into the water

Lyza had lots of fun getting her feet wet and playing in the mud

It didn't take long for Nixon to get right in the water

Lyza's Library

Today is a special installment of Lyza's Library. Not only do we get a book report, we also get a fable that Lyza wrote for school. Here is the Fable:

Why Lion Eats Meat

One day a long time ago Lion got so hungry that he roared in agony and clawed at the ground. When Lion gets hungry he will do anything to eat. He walked around the barren savanna and met Grass he snuck up on her, all of the sudden Grass turned around, she screamed. She ran away faster than a cheetah. “I’m so hungry!” the Lion roared. He kept walking and met Acai Tree. He crept up on him but Acai Tree turned around, screamed and ran away. Then Lion got a cunning idea. “If I bury all the plants legs underground they can’t run away!” Lion buried all the plants legs underground. Lion felt as if nothing could stop him. Finally it was time to bury Venus Flytrap's legs. She was in a deep sleep. But she woke with a start once Lion buried her legs. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!” She yelled. She bit him several times on the flank. “OOOOOOOOOOOOW” Lion roared with pain and hatred. He turned tail and ran to the cave in hopes he could find Bat or Tarantula for a snack. From then on Lion was too scared to eat plants.

Note: regardless of what happened to Lion please eat your vegetables.

This week I finished Firestar’s Quest. Firestar’s Quest is in the Warriors series. In the book Firestar learns about a fifth clan driven out of the forest a long time ago and found a gorge but was driven out of there and became rogues and kittypets (pet cats). Will Firestar be able to rebuild skyclan?

Have a great week!

  1. Lyza, excellent job on your writing. Sounds like another great book you read, too.
Nice to see the pictures of all the fun you’ve been having outside. Have a wonderful week!
We were really hoping that the border would open up and that we would come down and visit and hit up Silverwood. Sad that things haven’t improved enough for that to happen.
I enjoy keeping up up with you guys through the blog posts. Hope we can come visit when when the border reopens.
