Just Playin

We had a nice relaxing weekend at home together. Daniel finished his big paper on Friday and was able to take a little break from being at school and we had nothing else going on. It was nice for us to all be home together and have some fun!

On Saturday we picked up this learning gym that we found on craigslist. I think it is safe to say that it will be well used by Lyza. Here is a video of her playing with it for the first time. She loved it!

Daniel's Birthday and a Photo Shoot

We enjoyed celebrating Daniel's Birthday last weekend. On Sunday we got together with some friends to "watch" the superbowl. I think Daniel and I managed to both see the half time show and the rest of the time we enjoyed visiting with friends. I took Daniel's favorite cake, skor trifle, and everyone sang to him. The night of his birthday we made avocado chicken pizza and tropical chicken pizza. They were both delicious! After dinner we had fun visiting with family on the phone and opening presents.

 

This is Lyza and I all ready to go to a Piano Bash last Saturday. It was called Flying Fingers. It consisted of 6 grand pianos and 12 pianists. Lyza was a happy girl through the entire performance.

Yesterday Lyza and I did a little photo shoot. We had a lot of fun! I thought I would share some of my favorites. It was a little hard to narrow it down so their are quite a few. She is just too cute!

Lyza is such a good baby and has been lots of fun lately. We are getting more and more laughs from her! It is so much fun watching her grow and reaching new milestones.

So who posts 2 days in a row? Well, Lyza laughed for the first time yesterday! We thought we would share some more of this cute little girl. Enjoy.

It's Official

After almost a year I am finally a permanent resident of the United States of America! Woo Hoo! We were so excited when we picked up the mail yesterday and saw this:















And yes....I realize I look like a terrorist. Please don`t judge :)

Today Lyza is 7 weeks old. It is so exciting to watch her change and grow! She amazes me everyday. I am already having moments of feeling like she is growing up too fast! She has just about grown out of her newborn clothes. I might be able to squeeze her into them for another week and then she will get to wear a whole new wardrobe! She is so lucky....I wish I got all new clothes every 2 months :)

She has been such a good girl. For the past week she has been sleeping through the night! And when I say sleeping through the night I am talking at least 9-10 hours every night! The first few nights were quite an adjustment for me because I would wake up after about 4 hours and watch her on the baby monitor because I was sure she would wake up at any moment but she never did. The last couple of days my body has quickly been getting use to getting a solid 7-8 hours without waking up and it feels great! I love it when she wakes up in the morning after a good sleep; this is when we get her best smiles!

Here are some highlights from the past 2 weeks:

Lyza still loves her change table and she still loves to move as much as she can. She also enjoys wearing socks on her hands so she doesn`t scratch her face.

Whether it is her swing or her bassinet Lyza is always a serious sleeper.

Lyza in her swaddle wrap. As soon as we started using this at night is when she started sleeping through the night. Even though she is tightly bundled she still manages to get turned around in her crib.


Here is a picture of Lyza with her friend Quinn. They are 3 weeks apart. It is hard to imagine that Lyza was that small just 3 weeks ago.



We have had great weather this week and the snow has melted enough that the sidewalks are clear which means we can go for walks again. Lyza usually always falls asleep within minutes and it feels great to get outside.

Here is one last video of Lyza making sounds. The last couple of days she loves to try and copy sounds that we make.



We finally got Lyza`s crib last night which means for date night tonight we will be setting it up! I can`t wait to start organizing and decorating her room.

Lyza's first 5 weeks!

So on Friday our little Lyza bean turned 5 weeks old! She has been such a good girl this week and has been sleeping 4-6 hours at a time during the night, eating and then sleeping another 4 hours! It has been nice to get caught up on some sleep and I am starting to feel like myself again and not like such a zombie! From here on out you can expect all of my posts to be pretty much just about Lyza since our lives now revolve around her and we are loving it!

We had a great Christmas and were so happy that we were able to visit with all of our family over the holidays! It has been fun to have Lyza at home with us and I thought I would take just a minute to show what she has been up to!

 Lyza has been giving us some great smiles lately. You will have to excuse the dirty face in this video, she had just woken up.

 

 

Below is a picture of Lyza on her change pad. It is  her favorite place to hang out. It doesn't matter how fussy she is the second you lay her down here she is all smiles. She loves to lay there as long as possible and just kick her legs.

 This is the one and only time Lyza took a soother. I think she was a little embarrassed to have it because this is how she slept.

 Every once in a while she is happy to go in her baby carrier so I can free up my hands and get  few things done.

 This picture was taken on her 1 month birthday. The teddy bear is from her Dad :)

Daniel out shoveling all of our snow. It feels weird to have so much snow but it is still so warm. the temperature is always right around 0*C. We get a lot of snow and then it will warm up a little and rain and then cool off just enough so that everything is covered in ice. We are happy to have winter tires down here! This past week we got 22 inches of snow. Daniel even got a snow day from university!

When we lay Lyza down to sleep we always lay her down length wise in the crib so her head is facing the top and this is usually how she is when we check on her later. If she slept long enough I bet she would spin herself in a complete circle. I already know we are going to have to keep a close eye on her!

 We are enjoying this little girl and can't believe how quickly she is growing! She was weighed yesterday and is now up to 8lbs 4oz! I think we will have to pack up her newborn clothes in the next week or so which is a little sad. But we are enjoying watching her grow!
