All caught up (lots of fun happening around here)

Note on the title: Last week when I titled this post it was true, but the week has gotten away from me. Oh well.
In this corner of the yard where the two different fence types meet there used to be a 6 inch gap that a fat cat would walk through (the fat cat is now thankfully gone). So I put up a board that fills the gap, but not the whole height of the fence. So now there is a space at head level where Lyza meets up with the back yard neighbor boy and they talk together all the time. It is really cute, especially when she lifts her leg like this ;)
They will yell to each other "want to talk in the corner?" and then meet there to talk. Hopefully this isn't foreshadowing of her future behavior.
Spider Man art is the best. Is this technically a self-portrait? Selfie?
Dinosaur sticker book = huge grin
I think it is awesome that our 5 year old chooses salads for meals
Weeeeeeeee!
A busy day means falling asleep in a weird position
Ignoring the red eye in this one, Mason loves this toy right now. You put the wood balls in the hole, which are slightly smaller than the circumference of the balls, and then hit them through with the wood mallet. He is so cute to watch.
Not so cute watching him eat markers and draw on himself
Mason is REALLY busy right now. He is on a serious mission to empty out every drawer and cupboard he can reach and open.
Mason devoured these blueberry pancakes
Yum
The kids caught a bee all on their own the other day. All kids play with bees...right?
The library had an event where they brought the Reptile Man, who brought a bunch of reptiles to show the kids. Here he is holding a giant African tortoise

Mason was a bit of a handful so I took him for a walk around the block. He looked so cute running through this field with his bare feet
Here is the tortoise

There was also an alligator!

Nice hat Lyza

Big snake
More fun with the tortoise
These hooligans thought this wavy climbing structure at this park was the best

Typical super hero sighting at our house. Off to save the day!
Two Saturdays ago we did a family hike. We did the Mineral Ridge hike, which "is a 3.3-mile loop that offers outstanding views over Beauty and Wolf Lodge bays of Coeur d’Alene Lake, with excellent interpretive signage along the trail."

Kim had tic tacs to motivate the kids along the way

This guy was wide awake until right at the end and he was only happy if we were moving. No breaks for me.
This tree was falling but Lyza held it up for us so we could pass by
This cave was cool

The reason the hike is called mineral ridge is because it was a mineral exploration site where people were looking for precious metals and valuable minerals (they never found any). This cave was blasted while looking for minerals
Enough standing around, let's get going

There were portions of the hike where the kids had to have walking sticks
At the top
Cheese!

Cute boy
She looks so reflective
Lyza is in one of the holes from mineral exploration

This view is the reason to do this hike
Or maybe it is this view
Pretty. It was a perfect day as you can see from the beautiful clear sky
Going down

We came home to a bunch of raspberries Kim picked earlier that morning. Yum
Our front flower garden has been doing really well. Kim makes these lovely arrangements on our kitchen table. So inviting
That evening we went to a hot dog social that a family in our ward held
Can the swing hold all this weight?
The kids have enjoyed hanging around in Uncle Kevin's hammock

Mason is at a good reading stage where he is interested in books
Helping Mom make a yummy treat for FHE
Nice outfit Lyza
Scouting out the beach for the upcoming primary beach party

We can't figure out why he often chooses to fall asleep on the floor. When we ask him he doesn't have any good answers either
Kim LOVES grocery shopping with this bunch ;)
Kim and the kids put together a summer bucket list of activities they want to do before summer ends. One of those activities was making an ice block with toys frozen inside and then breaking/melting the ice to get the toys out
Under close adult supervision they got to work

Mason swinging a screwdriver backwards is a terrifying sight, but no one was hurt

Reading before bed. Keep your eyes on the page Mason
Lyza talking to her grandma
Cute picture of Mason. He loves being outside.
Kim helped Lyza organize all of her habitat stickers. What a big job!
Another bucket list activity. Tipi outside

We went to a new park with this giant set of slides
Mason and I played some Frisbee together
Kings of the castle

Last Saturday was the primary family beach party. Kim was in charge and it was awesome! You rock Kim!
The bubble station was a hit, especially the Spider Man bubbles

Not cool Nixon, not cool

Nixon loved sitting on my shoulders
Playing with some bubbles later that day
These bags of Lays potato chips have brought a lot of joy to our family

That's all for now. Take care.
