Mason's 4th Birthday and Independence Day

We have had a busy week over here. Before the excitement, enjoy the beauty of a lilly
On Sunday the kids did an end of the year piano recital and did a great job!
Who taught him to do this?
Henry got a big boy haircut and a sucker to help him hold still

We got to celebrate Mason's 4th birthday this week. He got to choose his breakfast (chocolate cereal)
We went to an indoor play place

Mason helped Kim make the icing for his cake
 What an awesome cake
Mason rekindled his passion for silly costume combinations
Nixon and Mason helped get dinner ready
Mason wanted to look in the fridge all the time to check on his cake
We made homemade corn dogs for dinner

Mason played with magnatiles while we cleaned up dinner
Then it was time for presents

 He got some Nerf guns

And a giant water color mat
Then we had the cake he has been asking about for months

 It was DELICIOUS
Mason even got to play with some of his new puzzles
Here is a video documenting the day
I had the day off of work (kind of) on Friday so I got to go to the beach with everyone
Mason and I took the kayak out for a spin (we bought a kayak from a friend)
Henry looked pretty cool in my sunglasses
By Henry's expression you would think this slide is 100 feet tall

On Saturday for the 4th of July Kim planned some fun minute to win it games for the kids that we did while Henry was napping (I won't explain the games because there is a video later that show them all)

Lyza found a spider friend while we were playing (near her elbow)

Then we tried a few fireworks
After the games we went to a party hosted by two familes we know that live beside each other. This was the second annual party and it was lots of fun
The kids got some party favors when we got there
 We had some yummy food

 Henry played some ping pong
The kids loved the giant slide
Lyza got to hold a little bunny and you can tell she loved it

We were good Americans and played with fire

I got some pictures of the fireworks but not as many good ones as I would have liked. Since the show was not professional and was various groups of people setting off what they bought the timing of the explosions was really unpredictable

 Nixon and his sparkler

I did some light painting with a sparkler

We had a really good 4th and are greatful to live in such a blessed nation
Here is a video of the fun we had
Take care
